Everything you need to know about visiting Fairy Meadows — how to get there, best time to visit, accommodation, and what to expect at the base of Nanga Parbat.

Fairy Meadows (Joot) is one of Pakistan's most magical destinations — an alpine meadow at 3,300 metres above sea level that offers a direct, jaw-dropping view of Nanga Parbat (8,126m), the 9th highest mountain in the world.

Where is Fairy Meadows?

Fairy Meadows is located in the Diamer District of Gilgit-Baltistan, about 50km from Chilas on the Karakoram Highway. The nearest major city is Gilgit (approximately 2.5 hours by road to the jeep track starting point).

How to Get to Fairy Meadows

Getting to Fairy Meadows is an adventure in itself:

**Step 1:** Drive from Islamabad/Gilgit along the Karakoram Highway to Raikot Bridge

**Step 2:** Transfer to a 4WD jeep for the dramatic 12km jeep track (one of the most thrilling drives in Pakistan — not for the faint-hearted)

**Step 3:** 3-hour hike through pine forests to the meadow

**Total travel time from Islamabad:** 1 day (including overnight in Chilas)

Best Time to Visit
